The Australian Directory of Philanthropy

Listing over 350 trusts and foundations, The Australian Directory of Philanthropy is an essential resource for not-for-profit organisations, charities and community groups. It features tips on how to apply for grants, write submissions, and important tax information to help grantseekers understand what needs to be supplied to foundations in any application for funding.

What's in the Directory?

Who will find the Directory useful?

How often is the Directory reprinted?

The last edition (2008/2009) was released in November 2007.

Why isn't the Directory being reprinted?

We are moving solely to the Australian Directory of Philanthropy Online, and this is the best option if you are looking to purchase the most up-to-date edition of the Directory. The Online Directory is continually updated as new information arises.

Annual subscriptions are available to purchase, which gives several people within your organisation access to the Directory wherever they may be.

What's the difference between the hard copy & Online versions?

Philanthropy Australia maintains a database of trusts and foundations and both versions of the Directory are taken from this. The information in the hard copy version of the Directory is most up-to-date at the time of publications, whereas the Online Directory is linked to Philanthropy Australia's database and thus reflects any changes we make as we receive new information (such as new entries, change of contact details, application dates, etc). Therefore the Online Directory is more up-to-date than the print version, and becomes moreso as time goes on (the print version is only published every two years).

How does the Online Directory work?

The Online Directory is accessed through the Philanthropy Australia website. It is not a single download of an electronic version of the hard copy.

Subscriptions to the Online Directory are purchased on an annual basis.

What are the features of the Online Directory?

Can I download/print the entire Directory?

The Online Directory was designed to be used as a web tool, and thus is most functional when used as such. However, through the My Saved Entries function, the user is able to download and print entries they have selected.

Multiple Users

The Online Directory Subscriber Agreement (Section 6 of the Website Terms of Use Document) states that the login details for each organisation/subscription may be shared with up to three staff members.

Directory Inclusion

Philanthropic bodies are encouraged to submit an entry for inclusion in the Directory.

As the Directory serves as not merely a tool for grantseekers but as a resource that aims to document philanthropic giving, we encourage philanthropic bodies that have not yet started distributing funds or that do not accept unsolicited applications to also submit an entry. You may provide as little information in the entry as you prefer.

To submit an entry, please contact the Knowledge Centre.
